Cipa Custom Slip-on Tow Mirrors

I'm thinking of investing in a set of the CIPA Custom Slip-On Tow Mirrors for my NBS Sierra, but before dropping $70.00 for a pair, I wanted to see if anyone here has any experience with these mirrors, especially on the NBS Trucks. Are they functional? How clearly can you see out of them? Do they shake or vibrate at highway speeds? How secure do they attach, and do they scratch or mar the finish of the mirrors while attached? I know this is a ton of questions, but $70.00 is a ton of money considering the older body style mirrors sell for about $20.00 less! If these are crap, can you give any recommendations for a good set of temporary tow mirrors? Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice!

I have a set for towing my 27' travel trailer with 2007 NBS Sierra crew cab. They attach very securely with no significant vibrations up to 70 mph. Mine haven't damaged the factory mirror plastic yet. In terms of vision yhey're OK, though I find myself using the regular mirrors and my 2" round blind spot mirrors more often than the extensions.

Thanks for the feedback! My TT is only 24', but I find I can't really see the end of it as I'm going down the road, i.e. if a car is tailgating I can't see them. Do the extensions give you enough extention to see the tail end of the trailer and if there's anyone on your @$$?

I can see the end of the trailer with both the tow mirrors and my 2" blind spot mirror, but I can't see behind it very well. The mirrors are better than nothing, and they sure beat the ones that attach with straps. The factory mirrors would be best, but I just don't care for the new style "elephant ears".

Ha! I had to laugh when I saw your "Elephant Ear" analogy! When we first started looking for a new Tow Vehicle I wanted Tow Mirrors and went so far as making that a point in my negotiations. Then we went and looked at the 2500's that had the Tow mirrors, found out the same mirrors are used on both the 1500's and the 2500's and decided the regular mirrors looked much better! My wife actually made the same comment, saying they looked like elephant ears... The 2500's look bigger than the 1500's (not sure if they actually are or not) and the Tow Mirrors looked like Elepahant Ears on them, so we could only assume they'd look that much bigger on the 1500's! Hence my search for decent temp tow mirrors! Thanks again for yout comments and feedback!

I saw the "Elephant Ear" analogy on this board before and it certainly stuck!

I see you have the EGR bug deflector. Which style is it and how does it mount? Also did you look at the GM deflectors?

After reading about odd noises after installing the GM Bug Deflector I opted for the EGR. I got the low profile model. It mounts with no drilling. I uses small plastice thingys that pop into the existing holes under the hood. The plastice thingys have a raised plastic block that fits the slots on the Bug Guard and then attach with the supplied screws. The little raised plastic part is almost as thich as the Bug Shield thickness so it holds it securely in place without undue stress on the shield. This should keep the shield from cracking where it mounts to the truck. All in all it was a 10 minute install and only required a phillips head screw driver!

I bought a pair of CIPA slip on tow mirrors on Ebay for my 2000 GMC about 5 years ago when I bought my boat. I put them on, sat in the driver's seat for about 2 mins, got out and took them off and listed them right back on Ebay (actually made about $5 on them..lol). I hated them!! The "double vision" from 2 seperate mirrors was irritating and they didn't help see behind the boat any better anyway.
