Quick 6.0l Exhaust Question

Curious about electronic exhaust cutouts on a 6.0L Will these create too much backpressure when opened up?? Or could getting cutouts a little smaller than the pipe help the back pressure problem

 

 

I have seen many a video of the SRT8 Charger and 300... which is a naturally aspirated 6.1L

 

 

I have always loved the idea of the Electronic Exhaust Cutouts. Nice and "stock quiet" but with the push of a button, open the cutout up and you got some loud a$$ exhaust

I don't have the answer to your question in general, but I do know that back pressure is required to make low end torque in these engines.

I wouldn't recommend any type of cutout on any stock engine, especially one in a large/heavy vehicle that needs the low-end torque. I've driven vehicles that have temporarily had the exhaust removed - not good. Loud, but not good. I mean, talk about a loss of power... crazy.

 

It would require some extensive mods to even remotely justify that on a truck.

I had a Magnaflow catback on my 03 1500 and am looking at the SLP Powerflow exhaust for my HD. A lot of my friends run cutouts on their f-bodies which I can understand but I'm honestly not a fan of them on trucks - these things need backpressure as already stated.

I was just merely curious, because I know you shouldnt open up the exhaust too much... but I really love the idea of the electronic cutout, go from loud to soft with the push of a button
