I Can't Believe This

Ok i have a 2004 Silverado 1500 I bought jan 31 of this year. I was told when i bought it they put on new pads and rotors in the rear and re machined fronts and new pads. so I've been having a squeeling noise from the front brakes every time i turn not when i stop. So i took it in to my dealer where i bought it b/c its only been 6 months so i figured it would be covered under my warranty, i thought wrong they said that all my rotors were shot and i need new pads. I told them that they supposidly put on new ones but they said no just rotors no pads. So they quoted me a price of 762.xx$$ to fix it. I sad no thanks i'll be taking it somewhere else. Anybody else have this happen?

Did they put this in writing when you purchased the truck? If so you have some recourse, your gonna have to shell it out of pocket.

*edit* How bad are the rotors, you may get away easy if they can be turned.

yea it was in writing im just getting it done elsewhere though and the rear rotors can be turned but the fronts are shot

Most squealing noises come from rust ridges on rotors and when (most of all) the perches or mounts aren't cleaned and lubed, I never have come backs and we use cheap and expensive parts, also with the price of rotors now days our brake lathe collects dust.

What made the dealer change their position? Did some heads have to roll or what :)

Glad they are picking up the tab.

Did you say they replaced and/or resurfaced the rotors/drums, but reinstalled the old worn pads? That is not right. Whenever you replace and/or resurface the rotors/drums you always put on new pads otherwise any high spots on the old pads will cause uneven wear on the rotors/drums. Besides the pads are cheap in comparison to the rotors, drums, and labor. That's just not right if that is what they did I'm not surprised your brakes are screwed up after 6 months.
