Buying Rims Off Internet

Hey guys I need an opinion. I know a lot of you have aftermarket rims on your trucks and I would really like to get some and run them for at least a few months this year(buffalo). Anywho, I was wondering if anyone actually bought their rims off ebay or a similar site that are ready to bolt on, ya know rims/tires/lugs/locks packages often advertised as 'ready to bolt on and drive' Has anybody bought one of these packages and had problems with it? I am tempted to go to a local shop just in case there are problems after mounting. Please share your stories because I would really like a nice set of 20 inch rims with some nice riding all season as I do A LOT of highway driving. Thanks :chevrolet:

I know on my mothers cobalt, we got wheels from www.wheelsnext.com and they come mounted and balanced, with lug nuts and with decent tires. Pricing is great, rims are good quality, even though their not really name brand, like BBS, or Enkei, etc.

I just bought rims off of e-bay, it wasnt a package deal, because I can get the tires from a friend, cheaper. I only had 1 problem , missing lug nuts but fed-ex made good and cut me a check. Then I found lugs on e-bay for like 20 bucks. Just make sure the seller has a good record and ask the seller alot of question, that way you know what your getting. And If it shows up different you can always dispute it with pay-pal

Here what I bought:

for my old car i bought em from wheelsnext .. good price .. but ya gotta watch them ... you will order a style .. if they are out they will sub another one that looks 'close' in its place.... and the tires are overall cheap ones ... but for 50$ a tire who can complain ...

other issue, is since they are not name brand stuff ... if you damage a rim or bust a tire .. you will have a headache trying to find a single replacement .. as most places that have them will only set in the set ...

most local tire shops can meet the price that is online .. it you approach them the right way ...

my truck still has the 17" steelies ... and at the most i will change over to some 17" aluminum peices ... don't want to add any more rotational mass then they already have ...

those look awesome! yeah I dunno, see you had your tires mounted in front of you as opposed to having them mounted/balanced and then shipped to you

hey 03 silvy, I am also from Buffalo! I bought my wheels from a guy on ebay and my tires off another guy from ebay....I found a better deal on them seperatly by shopping around. I can hook you up with the wheel guy he is the cheapest I found. I had one wheel start to chip on me and all I had to do was send him a pic of it and they sent me a brand new wheel! It's still in the box because you can't even notice the bad one! On the other hand, you might be better off going to fox tire because if u have problems they will take care of it right there....Let me know if u have any questions, oh yeah one more thing, if u just want factory 20's, I can get them for 1500 bucks with tires from heinrich chevy. cya

Yeah definately interested if you wouldnt mine giving me his number or site. I am not looking to put stock 20's on, I'm looking at either American Racing Prisms or Boss 301s for it and Fox wants $2000 for a set of 20s for the 301s!!! RIP OFF big time. Ebay has them for 1350+200 ship but they are from a shop in Kentucky.

it's pretty safe to order online, but make sure they will honor your warranty there...If they make you send it back in order to get a new wheel, it wont be worth it. I paid 2700 for my 24's...I paid 1500 for the wheels shipped, then I got 315/35/24 pirelli's off ebay for 1100, then it cost me 100 bucks to have them mounted and balanced at rainbow tire in Niagara Falls. I wouldn't order the cheap combo's off ebay and such because I didn't want kumho or nankang tires....make sure u get good tires!!!! I am at work all night but I will get you his phone number in the morning.

NICE!!! how much did that set run ya?

We'll ..... I got the deal of the century...... Are you sitting down for this !! I won the auction for all 4 wheels.... $57+ shipping...... its not a misprint. The wheels were in great condition, No curb rash, straight as an arrow, just needed a good cleaning. And the best part..... the lugs got lost, so fed-ex made good and refunded my money, then I found lugs on e-bay for $20 bucks and I'm good.

So the grand total is $77. for (4) 18 in Wheels ....
