Hellwig #7800 For Gmt900

I recieved the RSB assembLy Friday 17th Aug - was missing parking brake/brake line support bracket - called - should be shipped today ( 20th Aug)

Issues with Rear Stab Bar :

Assumed :

*The Drivers Side rear hanger bracket being located between Shock mount / Frame - the stab bar should be symmetrical upon vehicle centerline due to no inbd/outbd adjustment

Reviewing the data on line - the stab bar seems to be symmetrical

Mechanically :

Mine, the area where the "D-Links" attaches to the axle - one side is approx 1.5+" shorter than the other causing issues with mis-alignment with :

- " D-Links" mounted to axle - clearances to "Pig"

- " End-Links" being in close proximity to spare tire - ( forced to be splayed inbd not vertical - forcing symmetry to spare tire ) in the case of spare tire removal -I will need to disconnect "end links" to drop spare tire ..

This causing the majority of the issues..

Minor Issues :

- The rear link clevis mounts - the webs weren't parallel or perpendicular - easily fixed , Of the (3) holes on the stab bar - one needed to re-drilled due to excessive coating , easily fixed

- The orientation of the side flat wing ( 3 holes ) where one orientates up where the other orientates down - ( as if looking from the side of the truck installed )

i have sent them an email - waiting responce for replacement RSB ..

-------------

FYI :

*you do need to grind approx 1/8"+ off of the rear drivers shock mount - to attach

the rear drivers end link bracket to the spare tire support

relocation of passenger side parking brake / brake line

the RSB did come with a new sprayed on finish though -

purchase of Front Sway Bar - kinda edgy now !!!

Well, got off the phone with their service department - apparently i was shipped the wrong sway bar - new one in the mail Tuesday - the sway bar i should be getting will be symetrical and i will be shipping the wrong one back later

Front Sway bar - maybe ..

well, got the new / correct version installed ( 1.5" wider ) - fits well , good symetry to the pig - clearance to the rear spare tire - all in all i am happy with feel of the truck in the twisties - the new finish on the RSB is a speckled grayish color

with the front sway bar being 1.34" dia and the replacement being 1.50 - torsionally speacking approx 40% increase

You have any pics of the sway bar installed? How difficult was the installation once you got the correct part?

looks like this - the hardest part for me with limited tools was the grinding of the Drivers rear shock mount that attachs to spare tire cross member - dropping the spare helps out too ..

the instruction on-line dont show this - its an addedum - kinda of annoying at first but i am happy with the handling of the truck - currently it is set on the nominal setting

installation - basically an hour once grinding was finished - there is a "Z" bracket on the passenger side axle to relocate the parking brake / brake line - comes with supplied bolt.

attaching was easy - just tweaking for symetry and clearance took time

the truck is Metric and the kit is Inch - so you do need both sets of tools

that doesn't look like it would take any work at all to install ... and i see that they have an option for having 2" shackles installed (fixing to do that in the next few weeks) ... looks like this will be added to my to-do list ... as i don't like how the truck leans when i am cornering .. (still handles nice, but to much body roll so gotta do swaybars and find a light weight 18 to 20" wheel and tire combo)

Hi-

Did you ever get the front anti sway bar? I did and what a difference it made. I just now received the rear but haven't installed it yet. With the correct one did you still have to grind?

Thanks
