Reprogramming 07 Head Unit

I didn't opt for the bose upgrade in my silverado, just the single cd with mp3 jack. I was told by one of my genius buddies who "talked to the silverado engineer" that the head unit is the same as with the bose single cd system and that a chevy tech can reprogram the firmware to basically give me the bose system without bose speakers. It would take me from 4 ohms to the same as the bose system and give me 4 low level outputs to take straight to an amp. Is this true? I need better sound but I really like the look of my head unit and want to keep it if possible.

tho i could be proven wrong ... i highly doubt this is possible ... you can't 'change' the ohm load in a unit .. the ohm load is set by what the ohm load of the speakers are and how they are wired ...

the bose system also has more external amps ... etc etc .. its more then just a headunit and speakers...

if you need better sound .. just get one of the converters to allow you to hook an aftermarket amp up to your factory setup ... or one of the processors .. like from alpine or rockford ...

I bet your buddy can ask his "silverado engineer" to fix the firmware on the computer on your truck so it looks more like a Cadillac Escalade EXT than Silverado. Sorry for the sarcasms but i think your buddy's nose was growing when he told you this. They are big diferences inside the circuits of these 2 head units.
