Ac Compressor Clutch Doesn't Stay Engaged 02 Burban

The AC on my '02 suburban stopped blowing cold air. Not sure if it makes a difference, but it does have the automatic climate control. I've tried using the fan set to both auto and manual settings. The compressor clutch engages for about 10 seconds and then drops out for about 10 seconds, then engages again but never stays engaged. The lines do feel like it is trying to cool. Is the pressure switch dropping it out? Any other ideas?

You may be low on r-134. Buy a 10$ guage and find out. They are very easy to use.

25 to 45 on a 75 to 90 degree day, I think is where it should be.

The gauge will show you where it should be.

 

Any autoparts store would have one. Maybe even Wallyworld.

Thanks, I had local mechanic check it over lunch and the charge was a little on the low side. After he added freon I noticed the rear air was blowing cold but the front was still warm. He took the actuator under the dash out, tried to move it manually, and it still blew warm air. He had me take it up the street to another guy that does more A/C work, he suggested blowing out the evaporator coil. I will try this tonight.
