abager2 Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 i ordered a drivers information center for my 07 nbs sierra sle from gmcaccessories store, and want to know if the factory panel is just pulled straight off of the dash by the fingertips,or is there anything that needs unscrewed...apparently,once removed you get the headlight switch off from the back?? the knob doesnt seem to pull off the front??...the new panel completely replaces the factory one and even has the ac louver in it...the wiring is supposed to be in the dash to hook it up,even if the truck did not come with the dic.....any light shed on this subject is welcome...thanks!!!!
jnpaddison Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 the instructions that come with the unit are very straight forward - there are also a few links on this site regarding this issue the swap was done in within 10 mins - easy job - dont panic ... dic wiriing is there - in the same location as the dic will be - attached to a snap clip
lord-dogbert Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 The facia is held in with spring clips, steady pressure and patience will have it off quickly. There is tape around the spring clip holes, I put new duct tape around my holes to help with the vibration because once that thing is off the spring clips loosen up and you might get some vibration.
abager2 Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 thanks guys..it is appreciated...it should be delivered today and i didnt figure on any instructions coming with it...thanks again!!
abager2 Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 wow,i got the dic last night and could not believe the way the instructions said to install it...didnt take long to toss them aside like any red-blooded american male would do,and i just got my grimey finger tips under the edge of the old one and wiggled it straight off...made the switch swap and connections and popped it back on...maybe 2 or 3 minutes tops, and i really like the features it adds...thanks guys!!!
