Oldsmobile Bravada Help

Greetings all,

 

My grandfather has a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada and it has been pretty good (except for the fact he neglects to maintain it) up until now. He went out to start it today and he got nothing except a 'clicking' under the hood and when he tried to get his key back out it was locked in. Any ideas? The battery cables have been cleaned just recently same with the actual connector part for the battery..really have no idea a short of some kind? Poor grounding? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

The clicking is certainly from too little current getting to the battery. Either a dead battery or a bad connection.

 

As far as the key being locked in, I hate to even suggest this becasue it sounds so simple but I have seen this on two occasions. If the steering wheel is turned one way or the other, it can keep the switch from going back to the lock position and the key cannot be taken out. Turn the wheel just a little and take the pressure off the lock cylinder. Not to insult your inteligence with this, but both times I had someone say they could not get their key out, this is what had happened.

Negative it is locked in completely. No amount of moving the wheel makes a difference, first thing I checked.

the battery is dead dude, when the battery dies there is no power to energize the key release solinode, so therefor...............key stuck in ignition! just jump start it, or replace the battery, or spin the alternator with your hand really fast untill it charges the battery
