Chrome Bowtie Emblem, Anyone Buy One Of Thee?

I was looking at this and thinking about getting one..

Nice touch.

 

Here in my neck of the woods, the Chevrolet front grille factory logo doesn't seem to hold up in this climate. I have seen two 2005 Chevrolet trucks where the front grill plastic logo has deteriorated - one has to look real close to see that the backing is coming off. Black spots behind the logo.

I do have one. A couple of thoughts here. It fits inside the bowtie area (recessed) as opposed to over the area like the factory emblem. I was unimpressed with the attachment method. It uses tapped holes in the back, studs screw into these and then you have some washers and nuts. DO NOT overtorque. One of mine slipped (yep, I overtorqued) so after repair of the threads I also used silicone adhesive sealant to hold the emblem. I like the look and it smooths out the grill. Since my truck is black it goes well. It seems to be a quality piece. I had one on my other truck and it lasted through 8 years and 172,000 miles without corroding.

I also have this exact bowtie from "gearjamminaccesssories" off ebay. I too overtorqued, i emailed them and they offered to send me a new one if i sent the broken one back. I said screw it and just dealt with it and I have no complaints now. Except you have to polish it since its not really chrome its billet. Looks great though.
