Steering Wheel Controls...nbs

I just had a Jensen VM9311TS installed in my 07 NBS Silverado. Only to find out after the install was complete that I had lost my steering wheel controls. Apparently this model of the head unit doesn't have the correct plug for the harness GM makes for aftermarket head units to keep the steering wheel controls. Has anyone else ran into anything like this and is there a fix? Please help, I hate paying that much money for a vehicle and then having parts of it rendered useless.

  Heading out to Colorado and would like to take the Silverado TB but wonder what passes it can handle? Driving there from the east coast in the Silverado TB would be much better than my JK, but want to make sure it can handle many of the passes around Telluride. Has anyone had experience with the TB on passes in the San Juan Mts, and which ones can the Silverado do? Thanks in Advance

  I respectfully have to disagree with you here. If I'm stuck and I have a choice between a farmer and a guy with a mechanical engineering degree, I'll take the farmer every time. IMO, experience trumps education and nobody has as much experience at being stuck as a farmer.

  OP put new ones in: Alternator shorting wouldn't cause a lack of power when keying the ignition to accessory or run. You can straight up unplug the alternator and the car would still power up and even start.

  Keep clearing the code and driving it to build more data on circumstances, the problem may become more constant, reveal itself or cause more symptoms that make diagnosis easier.

  Some simple grounds from battery to engine, battery to frame, etc. using jumper cables might yield some clues. Battery condition? Alternator may have internally shorted - pull the power cable off the back if you suspect it.
