Which Spark Plug Wires?

Hi there, I'm new to this excellent site and very novice at maintenance (I just do: oil changes, shocks, clean my K&N). I have a 2001 4.8 Chevy and just hit 100,000 miles. I already bought the Delco 41-985 plugs and now need some new wires. I see on parts websites they have pics of longer wire sets (Taylor pn 82205) for my year and model truck, when it needs the shorter wires. I wanted the Taylor wires, but why the pics of long wires? The Bosch sets look correct from pics (short). Sorry about the stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure I do this tune-up right! Any extra info (wire part#'s) is appreciated!

Thanks in advance guys! Craig

Not sure why the Taylor pics are of longer wires. I have Taylor 8.2 Power Volts and so far they are great. I bought them because they are a great quality wire and I wanted a Red wire.

If color does not matter to you, you have several good choices. Our (CARQUEST) premium wires are supplied to us by Prestolite, the world leader in OE wires and an excellent quality product. I would also recommend Belden which can be found at NAPA and Standard Motor Products offers a great wire as well.

There are many economy brands out there and I would recommend premium wires only if you plan to keep the truck and drive it as your daily driver.

Be sure and use dielectric grease in the boots and anit seize on the plug threads.

I have MSD's

I like em, they were cheap (15 bucks more than stockers) and they have a lifetime warranty.

they have 50ohms resistance per foot, and they're red....LOL

So is Taylor wires part#82205 the right set? I see they have both coil pack and female terminal options for my year truck- what the hell? I believe mine is coil pack right? And do I also need to buy that single coil wire in addition to the set? Thanks for the replies!

I got nice blue NGK wires. The stock wires came off in pieces. I didn't notice any difference though I was suffering with leaky intake gaskets at the time so it ran like s--t till I replaced them.

I am not sure what you are seeing in Taylor's catalog but you have only 8 wires, no coil wire. I cannot remember the part # I used but you should be able to look up a set of Power Volt 8.2s on their website and there should be only one option.

Alright, I talked to Taylor wires and it is part #82205 (red wired 8.2 Powervolts). It fits all the LS1 engines 99-05. Thanks for your help!
