The governer, the chip or program that keeps you from going to fast. I would guess that all gmt900`s are limited at 100 mph since that is the speed my truck cuts out at.anyone know how to deactiveate this fun preventive chip. or s it one of those things programmed into the trucks computer??anyone have success or have a higher speed limit?thanks

Theres really no need to go over 100 mph anyways, your tires are rated for barely over that speed. If you want to go faster, theres other things you have to do before you can get that limiter removed. Besides these tanks dont go more then 90 in a quarter mile in semi stock form, so even for racing 100 limiter is more then fine.

If you never go over 100+ I guess you don't drive on the highway much. Ever try to pass a string of 6 vehicles stuck behind a transport going 45 in an 85 zone? You know when the first car behind it won't pass and then the next 5 don't know what to do. You need to be able to hit 100+ to get around them.

I had to yesterday and it sucked sitting at 98mph on the govenor lugging around to get there to the front even on a very long stretch.

Sounds like your a dumb kid or teenager that has nothing better to do then to danger sane motorists on the road. There is a reason why theres a speed limiter on the trucks because there is no reason to go any faster! If you get caught going 100, the average speed limit here is 65 on highways, i havent seen one higher yet, but going 100 in a 65 is 35 over, automatic loss of license. 100+ thats even better. Slow down, save a life.

Any tune or handheld programmer will let you do it. My Edge let me increase it to 200mph (like it'll ever go that fast) but thats were its at. But if you go over 100 that much, I'd get some higher speed rated tires

silverado, good job and taking a joke and making it personal. did you ever consider that others may have notice this feature on their truck, and wanted it removed aswell?Do us all a favor next time you reply on a topic help answer the question, not patronize the one asking.and don't be mad I'm 20 and you 50

I don`t know how traffic operates around the rest of the country but on the outskirts of Chicago we have the Tri-State tollway. Traffic on a Saturday night or early Sunday mourning will average about 85 mph. My speed limiter is set at 92mph. When it comes to moving over to get to an exit or change lanes, that doesn`t leave a lot of room for an adjustment. When I get my tune this spring the limiter is coming off.

You realise that had you done a search you would have found LOADS of information on this? Did you realise that your question had been answered, he made a valid point and you then dissed him. And what does age have to do with anything? He also mentioned the speed rating of your tires, and he's completely right, think about what would happen if you had a blowout going 100mph...

You've been on here a month, don't disrespect senior members... Jeff has helped alot more people on here than you.
