Gear Oil

I was just curious if anyone had tried Lubriplate SPO gear oil's in the rear. We use a few of their different heavier grades at work and this stuff is amazing in our gearboxes, some of them are hooked to 400hp electric motors and the gears show no wear. I seen my grandfather has a few gallons of SPO-255(one of the lighter ones) in his garage and said its the best gear oil he's ever used and he uses it in all kinds of gear boxes on tractors and cars. His containers say its SAE 90 I believe. Anyways, anyone ever try it? He told me to take it if I need it but I was just thinking about buying some. It's really sticky like Lucas additive. I've been using Valvoline and this stuff costs twice as much but I won't if it's as good as other SAE 90 gear oils by Mobile, Valvoline, ect..

I never used it but they make it local and when ever you drive near the place it stinks hororificly lol, Think the place had a fire this past summer too.

 

I didn't even relize they made lubes for vehicles, thought it was all industrial.

Barry, we sell some of Lubriplate's products such as a spray lube, open gear shield and a chain lube and it is all premium product. I would encourage you to use the proper weight for your truck if you do try it. I believe it is supposed to be 75W 90 and not straight 90 wt.

 

Do your research and make sure it is compatible before using it but I am confident that if Lubriplate makes it, it is a good product.
