Does anybody have sound clips of magnaflow or JBA exhaust catbacks on their 5.7 vortec truck? I would love to hear them if you do.....or any experiences with either. Thanks!

It is not going to be representative of reality. You really have to experience it in person. You probably don't want to hear this, but I think the only way is, to try to find somebody, who has them and check for yourself right there. I was in the same boat as I considered going gibson. I stayed with stock for my peace in the cabin.

I was afraid someone would say that....I like peace in the cabin as well, I would just like a nice tone out the back. I can't even find a video!!! much less find someone in person. I tried getting a custom exhaust on my 72 monte and vowed to never go back to any automotive shop again. I was hoping one of these kits would be something I would like. Thanks for your reply.

Anybody please chime in if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Yeah I did! My brother and I installed it a couple years ago. I was in the process of buying a couple of the stock keyless entry GM remotes when I stumbled on the Viper Keyless Entry, Remote start, alarm system. It was cheaper cause the remotes from GM were expensive and than if I can remember correctly they would have to program it too.

ill make a clip of mine :) dont think you would like my exhaust though.

Hey guys, I appreciate the responses! I am looking for something pretty quiet.....but a nice deep tone. I would probably leave it factory....but somebody undercoated the tailpipe and I just don't like the look. I guess I could have a tip welded on and a muffler put in place of the stock one. However, I figured for the price of a stainless mandrel bent magnaflow catback, that would be foolish. I can't believe no one on here has not had experience with any of these catbacks. I think tahoes would sound very similar if you have one of them! I have searched reviews and the board throughly.......

BLKChevy, that remote start is neat, I bet it came in handy the last three days. (I live below Burlington, NC). I am actually at Duke hospital admitted for some digestion problems for the moment. I also noticed you just bought some nerf bars....I just bought my truck and took some nice westin bars off that I want to sell. I wish I could have met up with you.

Thanks again for the response guys......

Well my exhaust is neither of the 2 but if you want you can take a stab at what I got!

Exhaust Sound Clip

Would be a bit too loud for me, but I'm a stock guy of course.

Did I detect correctly you starting your truck with a remote? That would be awesome.

I think that if you went and found the manufacture site of the exhaust systems that you are looking at they might have exhaust clips that you can listen too. I know that you can get bolt on kits that are cat back. They fit the same way the stock system is just with a little tweek in the muffler for performance and sound.

If you want quiet but better toned than stock, the Magnaflow 22" long muffler, or Flowmaster 50 series, not loud inside, but nicely toned outside. My 5.4L F150 has 50 series si/do on it and its not at all loud inside. My chevy with dual Super 44s on the otherhand.... hahaha you would hate to have that setup.

Hey Riggs, when you get that exhaust clip lemme know, i'm pretty interested to hear it!

No clips, but I love the Gibson 3" cat-back that was on my Suburban when I got it. Nice mellow tone until you stand on it. And even then it's not obnoxious by any means. I have no desire to change it whatsoever.

Thanks for all of the replys. I went ahead and bought the Magnaflow kit. It comes mandrel bent and stainless steel. I think I would have been happy with some of the others you guys suggested, but I'm kinda chicken without hearing them. I know you can look on the manufactuers site, however they never have my model and the 5.3 sounds nothing like it. Any way, I will get a clip up once it gets here and is on.

Take Care,

David
