Is This Possible?

One of my friends just picked up an 04 2500HD crew cab short bed LT3 8.1L Silverado. It has the factory rear entertainment system (Panasonic) and factory XM radio (which he subscribes to). On road trips, he puts his son in the back and lets him watch a DVD with wired headphones. Up front he is forced to listen to AM/FM only. If he switches to XM, the rear audio gets overridden with XM from the front and his kid starts screaming! I looked in the manual and this is how the truck was set up from the factory(?). But why? Seems really stupid to me. He wants to rewire it/fix it, so he can listen to XM up front and his kid can listen to DVD in the back at the same time. Anyone with this problem out there? I assume the 1500 has this same problem too.

Sounds like you have to reprogram the radio. I don't see why GM would assume that if you were going to listen to XM you would want it front and back. He should try turning the rear entertainment on while he is already listening to XM.

I have the rear entertainment system and it doesn't do that. The rear controls decide what is coming through the headphones at all times it is powered on.

use the wireless ones and he can listen to the dvd or a cd. With the wired ones they can listen to an opposite source of the drivers radio.

The truck didn't come with a set of wireless headphones (he got it used). Is it already set up for them... he just needs to find some and his problem will be solved?
