Nv3500 Rebuild Possible?

A friend of mine ran his '99 Silverado 5spd. low on fluid and now it is making all kinds of noise. I used to work as a mechanic but haven't rebuilt a manual newer than a '93 Ranger trans. I'm not worried about figuring out how it comes apart and goes together...just about special tools. Sometimes when they say "special tools required" you can get by with an easy home made tool. Other times you are SOL. Anyone have experience with these to know what you absolutely have to have?

Thanks,

Derek

once it comes out and apart ,you need to perform a cost analysis to see what is more costly, std trans are typically easy to blow over the replacement cost in parts ,be very carefull if you undertake this, get the manual ,get replacement cost first ,your buddy may go for that ,don't risk your friendship, please.
