Tune With A Diablo

Just curious how others have done their tune with a Predator. I am running the high octane Diablo tune with line pressure up about 10%, shift quickness back about 10% and all TQ mgmt removed except the upshift reduction(diablo reccomends leaving it on). I just plan to keep it handy in the truck in case I cant get 93 octane. I dont want to do anything to hurt the truck or effect is longetivity... any reccomended changes?

I've been playing around with my settings lately. As I've been told, what works for one truck is completely wrong for the next, so do your own thing and don't mod the Diablo tune with something that someone told you might work. You might end up with a mess on your hands! If I may suggest something to you that has helped me out tremendously, go here and download this program:

I run logs (cruise control between 55-70MPH for a long stretch, while keeping your RPM's in the 2000-2500 range, then a couple of WOT runs) right into DiabloSport's DataViewer program in the laptop via the plugged-in Predator and then analyze the exported .csv file results in the DSLogRedux program. It'll help you squeeze the hidden ponies out of your engine by analyzing your data, breaking it down and making the LTFT suggestions for you. I run the modified Diablo tune with 93-octane Amoco fuel and am happy with how things are progressing.

 

What I'm really waiting for, which should be out this quarter, is the update that'll give me access to the TCM in the 6-speed transmission!

Thanks for reply, the only thing I have modified in any tune is gear ratio and tires sizes as well as TQ mgmt and shift time/firmness and such. Nothing else.

Good to know! I've been considering a custom tune, to eliminate Abuse Mode, etc. If that may soon be possible with the Predator, I may just wait... Thanks for the info!

I too have been running a Diablo on my truck. I just got it a few days ago. Seems to add a lot of the low end torque that I lost when I did my exhaust(3" 40 series flowmaster at the orig muffler loc. and 3" single outlet behind it). I am running the 91-93 octane settings on 91(oklahoma) fuel. I can't seem to find 93 yet. I did a bit of logging, and adjusted my fuel curve based on the same system mentioned above. That seemed to help even more!!

 

I have read from a few guys that ANY messing with shift points isn't the wisest of choices, but once I verify my warranty through the dealership, I will make them even firmer. So far, I moved shift one about 6% firmer and about 6% more pressure. 2-3 Shift I added 3% pressure, and 3% quicker. It's enough to chirp in 2nd once the tranny is all warmed up, but there is a delay 1-2 when it's still rather cold.

 

I will continue to log here and there, even gonna run one today on my way down to Texas, just to make sure that nothing changes. Each time you do something different, I suppose you would want to log and adjust for the new component as your ECM is designed to adjust for everything now a days.

 

I didn't present much new info, but thats my 2 cents.

I guess my rims are just too heavy to chirp 2nd.. I just changed mine back a tad... 3% quck and firm in 2nd and 3rd and 1% in 4th. Shouldnt hurt anything and I can tell a diff from the stock slop.

Well I have the factory 17" wheels and some crappy 265/70/17 Firestone Destination LEs, I think it's really just the junky tires cause my truck really has taken a beating over the years. It was orig a farm truck, I'm just trying to take good care of it, and planning on tearing down the motor around 100k. I guess I just found a deal I couldn't pass on, you know?
