Gauge Cluster Swap

I have a 2002 1500HD crew cab Silverado. I want to swap gauge clusters to one from a 2003+ that has the instant mileage calculator in the display. My question is, can I get one from a local scrap yard/auto salvage and pop it right in. It looks like it may be the same general design, but would the plugs all match up? Also, would the mileage be whatever the truck had that the old cluster came out of, or does it read it off the BCM? Thanks guys!

No 03 up have a different design

Hmm...Well I had an 06 and the dash 'shape' was the same. Assuming it DID fit and all, would it plug up? Im sure I could rig up something if it didnt fit.

No I don't think think the 2003 cluster will plug in to the 2002 and earlier. I thought I'd read a post on this elsewhere and that it was not practical - something about the computers - but I can't find the post right now.
