Does anyone else have one of these old gliders? This one used to belong to my mamaw and papaw and I remember this being on their front porch since my first memories of going there. A few years ago my mamaw said she was getting rid of it, so I took it but haven't done anything with it yet. As you can tell it's had many coats of different color paint over the years, but this summer when I get back home from Korea, I plan on prepping and repainting it a bright green with the trim in white, which is how it was when I was little. It's got a couple small rust through spots on the front, but other than that, it's still pretty solid. It's going to be a lot of work sanding and prepping it, but hopefully it will look as good as I remember it as a kid.

Sanding?

Nah. Not on something that tough. I'd say that a grinder with a wire wheel will be your very best friend.

I agree with Mike. I would media blast or acid dip it(depending on how thick the metal is). It would get it perfectly clean. The LineX would make it last a lifetime or two.
