Ball Joints

what is the best way to dislodge the the stock ball joints from the upper arm? i know you can do the pickle fork but can you use a 5lb sledge hammer and pound it out? i tries once and i couldnt dislodge it....any ideas?

Are you asking about replacing the balljoints in the upper control arm? If so, I think they need to be pressed in and out. You may need to take them to a shop and ask if they can do that for you..... If your trying to seperate them from the spindle, about 5-6 good whacks with the sledge and pickle fork should do it and would be the easiest.

ya i made a typo i meant separateing the ball joint from the spindle....thanks for the advise
