Window Motors

so both my windows have gotten really slow and im scared there just gunna stop so i bought 2 new window motors on ebay, but i was looking at some threads on this and everyone said they replaced the regulators aswell... im just curious how important is it to replace the regulator, would just installing new motors be sufficient enough to bring the windows up to speed and maybe a little lubricating the track?

If you don't replace the regulator when you change the motor then very soon you will be opening up the door panel to replace the regulator. They are very weak on these vehicles. I've had my driver's side regulator replaced twice now...once happened right after the glass was replaced (the shop warned me that it would probably break after having the window broken). Second time was when the motor went south, within a week the regulator broke. It was $100 installed (both times) at my local glass shop for aftermarket (same low quality as OE, cheaper price).

I would change them both. If you check with you local parts store, you will probably find that they sell the kit which includes the motor, regulator, and guide rails from $80.00 - $100.00. I just bought one for my drivers side window on my 03 GMC Sierra 2500HD and it only took about 25-30 minutes to install. Very easy. Just make sure you get the CORRECT instructions on how to take off your door panel.
