Need Help Picking Exhaust

Hey guys im a new member and i was wondering if i could get some feedback on what i should do as far as an exhaust for my truck. I have an 06 GMC 1500 4.8L and i want an exhaust that will give me a better sound, but i dont want to spend a fortune. I was thinking about running a cat back system out the side infront of my tires with a Glasspack exhaust. I dont know if this is good or not. Please help me out, all suggestions are helpful, tell me what you think. I really want it sound deep and good.

I personally would not use a glasspack.. If I were you id look at Magnaflow or Borla catback.. Both of those arent too expensive and will give you a unique sound plus a little power..

I've always been a flowmaster guy. Here's my '00 4.8L, with a SI/DO Flowmaster Original 40.

I have a dual Magnaflow set-up on my 6.0. The mufflers are preety cheap for a good quality part. I have a custom exhaust from the cats back. I wanted it out the side after the rear tires and run two mufflers. I have had other mufflers in the past, and the Mangaflow wins hands down. Little more power, nice sound when you are on it, but crusin it is nice and quiet in the cab. My vote is Magnaflow.

Might I suggest true duals, nothing like the sound of duals.

 

 

 

2.5" is the thickest I would go on duals for the 4.8, and I would say go with the Super 44 Flowmasters, but if you want not so loud & a quality built muffler go with Magnaflow.

If you don't want it real loud, look into something like I've got. Kept the stock pipes and had a large Magnaflow put in. Sounds like stock at idle inside the truck, but you can hear it when you give it gas though it's not so loud in the truck that you have to turn up the radio to hear it. I'll try to get some sound clips of it and post them, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

      Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.

      Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?

      Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.

      Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.

      I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
