Performance "chips"

was browising the EBAY tonight, and came across the "performance and gas saver chip". Says it will work in my 05 Sierra 2500. Anyone ever use one? do they work? do they hurt the engine at all?

I'm skeptical on anything that says "gas saver". Then I read down further and it says "since 1998" and it's only $10............

 

Someone would be marketing this by now if it worked.

i hear the way to go is to get a custom PCM with 3D mapping for the best power increase and mpg increase. I plan on getting a Western's turn this fall. I've heard nothing but good news about them.

Do not buy anything like that off of ebay, anything that says 25+ horsepower or 30mpg+ is the biggest scam you can get off there. Leave that stuff to be purchased by the ricers

Unplug an engine safty sesnor, plug this in it,wrap a big ball of electrical tape arroune it to protect it from the elements?...Not on my truck!

The truck manufacturers spend millions in engine development and engineering and ongoing testing to produce a balance of power, price, performance, durability, and fuel economy. Never ceases to amaze me that some dufus handyman thinks he can "improve" on that with $3.99 worth of computer chip (sold to suckers for hunreds of times its cost).
