Climate Control Fan

I have a 2004 Silverado 2500HD, I noticed this morning when I went to turn the heater fan down, when I got to the #3 setting the blower fan was completely off.

 

In doing a little investigating it appears the fan only works on setting 4 & 5, with 4 being low and 5 being high. Settings 1-3 do not work at all.

 

Any ideas?? Just trying to get an idea when I bring it to be fixed, I don't get jerked around by the dealer.

You either have a bad blower motor resister and/or harness or a bad control head assm.

 

Locate the blower mot resister under the pass side of the dash, unplug it and see if the harness or resister is burnt. Also follow the wire harness make sure to dont see any cuts in it.

 

If you have a meter then you can also test the resister.

 

If nothing is found wrong with the resister or harness then the control head unit is the cause.

Thank you very much for the info. Is this something thats costly to have done? Just trying to figure out where to go depending on my findings from the tests you mentioned
