Question On Tire Size

I'm getting a 2" front lift today with new Truxxx torsion keys on my 2004 Sierra 1500. The tires need to be replaced soon. The tires on the truck are 265/70/17's mounted on GM 17" wheels. I would like to go to 285/75/16's on aftermarket 16x8" wheels. Is this ok, or will I have clearance or brake caliper issues?

If you had the 17" wheels from the factory, you have to put 17" or larger on your truck. 16" wheels will have clearance issues.

ok,thanks, that was what i was concerned about. The truck came with GM 17" wheels and a 16" spare. I read a few posts that mentioned issues with the brake rotors. I think that the GM 17's are 7.5" wide. I'd like to go with 285/70 tires, and the rim width for that size is 7.5"-9". I guess they would fit, but probably with some sidewall bulge.

If you have rear discs then the 16" should fit fine...It's mainly on 1500s that have drum rears that you run into problems with that size as the fronts are bigger to compensate for the "smaller" rear brakes.
