Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just bought a GMPP CAI. I know alot of you guys have it, so I was wondering which is easier, to get dealer to install it or is it easy to do yourself. Is it time consuming?? Thanks for your help.

I just looked at the price of this, it's over $300 on gmpartsdirect! From everything I have read on here, it does not really boost performance, it's solely for looks. Is it really worth it? For $300 you can get a custom tune! Now that's a performance mod!

I wouldn't waste the money personally, but then again maybe you've got more money than I do.

Well its like $465 CAD. But I am getting it for $380. No CAI gives alot performance boost. But they help aliitle especially with exhaust. I also do have a handheld programmer...I know its only a handheld but thats all I wanted was a plug and play unit, and I am quite happy with the performance out of it.

I understand completely about the handheld vs custom tune. I realize custom tunes are better, but someday I will get a Diablosport Predator simply for the convience of having a handheld.

I do like the looks of the CAI under the hood, but just can't justify the price for something I look at maybe once a month. Nice truck, btw.

Do it yourself, it's a 30 minute job, tops...and that includes a beer break.

So its a pretty straight forward. An easy installation?

Yea its pretty easy just leave everything loose so you can set it exactly how you want it you'll be fine.

Yeah, it's mostly just for looks...and sound. But If you do a tune, exhaust and headers, then I could see it being important for performance.

It's extremely easy, like mes said, just leave the tube clamps loose to get the aluminum tube positioned/angled just right, then clamp her up.

Wait till you pull the stock one out...you will feel like a doctor pulling the intestines...with several organs attached...out of someone's body. That thing is a monstrosity!!!:D:D

For some people it isn't easy because they have issues with following instructions. Others need a helper to read them the pictures.

What is that on the top of your front left fender? Looks like a small antenna of some sort?

I keep getting that question alot. Yes it is an external Antenna for my truck phone and or blackberry. I work in alot of remote locations where cell service is hard to get. That antenna connects to a booster which connects to my phones. Works great in isolated areas.
