I read this too, but it is a little bit confusing in regard to the Camaro vs the other "Zeta" platform future vehicles??? Here is an excerpt from this article. I hope it is ok to post excerpts? If not, mods, please remove.

 

The much publicized "zeta" platform that is the basis for the new 2009 Chevy Camaro and upcoming Chevy Impala is in question. "It's too late to stop Camaro, but anything after that is questionable or on the bubble," said Lutz, noting that also means Camaro derivatives -- along with a big Impala sedan, "if we call it Impala."

If the Tahoe is over 50k, I cant imagine what this will run. Regardless, this is the first hybrid that has made me think twice.

One problem I am thinking of is service. Who besides a dealer is going to have the tools, technical info, parts, etc to work on these?

Good point. Hopefully they plan to expanded the 5/100 warranty to cover the electric drive components similar to what they do with the current models and the internally lubricated parts.

 

Beyond that, who knows but this seems to be the way things are going.

Make it a diesel hybrid and I think you got something, but what I found shock was the huge reduction in towing; only 6,100 lbs?

You can't fit a baseball team in a Prius either. Sometimes there are sacrifices. I'll be real honest here, I never tow anything close to 6100 lbs and doubt most guys do.

 

A diesel hybrid would be excellent but if they came out with that right away they'd never make news with the gasser. They're going to stretch out the good news as long as they can.
