Oil Pressure Gauge Issue

This weekend, my dad and I were hauling our Kubota M9000 home with our 2003 Silverado 1500HD 4x4. We were about 3 miles from the farm when the oil pressure guage went crazy and the DIC was showing LOW OIL PRESSURE. We pulled over, shut it off, and checked the oil. It had plenty in it, and was running fine when the issue started. After that, the gauge would go crazy any time that we accelerated heavily and would stay on the 80 mark the rest of the time.

 

My question to everyone is whether or not anybody else has had this issue or has any idea what it is. We suspect a faulty sensor or sending unit somewhere.. but we are definitely not experts.

 

Oh, and its got the 6.0L w/61,000 miles..

GM is replacing instrument clusters under a "recall". Give a dealership a call and ask about it. I believe it covers trucks for 7/70,000.
