What Backspace Do I Need?

Recommended Posts

I have an '01 Sierra 2500LD 4x4, and I'm looking to buy some wheels. I already have 285 BFG A/T's, and I just want to get an aftermarket rim with a wider wheel. What size backspacing should I get so that my tires won't rub. They currently do not rub at all right now.

Also, post up some pics of your wheels, so I can get a better visual.

1 last thing, what bolt pattern is my truck? 170mm, or 6.5?

Thanks

Bolt pattern is 8 X 6.5 presuming you have 8 lug wheels. 8 X 170mm is only common to 99 and later Ford 8 lugs. Your stock BS is 5.5" so as long as you stay within that measurement you should be OK, however if you plan on buying a lift kit in the future you may not be able to use wheels with that much BS. IMHO, I would look for an 8" wide wheel with about 4.5" of BS.
