Throwing around the idea of putting a factory navagation head in my 03 ls silverado, i dont have bose or steering wheel controls, just the factory single disc radio, from the post i've been reading i've got mixed responses on weather or not its been done in an 03, the big hold up seems to be that Nav. wasnt avaiable in 03 so it cant be "programed", or you have to have wheel controls or bose, but on the other hand it sounds like others have done it, is there a plug and play oem setup that will work in my 03?????

I'm looking for the same system to put in. As far as I can tell its only for the BOSE radios. Crutchfield used to have the radio available for 03 up trucks but not anymore. This is all I have found.

yeah i've been looking at after market ones and pioneer makes a really nice looking model AVIC-D3X that will fit right into our opening and has a lot of cool features for 6-700 bucks

I have played with it at best buy. Its pretty good. I had a Pioneer radio in my last truck and it tunes and shapes the same way. And the navigation is supposedly by Garmin. I found a couple of ones on eBay but I'm worried about it being used.

It can be done. Do a search on the Avalanche Forum. There's a huge post (15+ pages) with all the info you need. I added a non-lux touchscreen from a Suburban to my '03 Yukon, but it has Bose. There are also instructions for adding the Denali/Escalade in-dash aux 6-disk changer that is really easy. I don't remember reading anything about Bose being a requirement. There's just a difference between Yukon/Tahoe and Denali/Escalade that you need to be aware of. Good luck.
