Hanger Bearing

Recommended Posts

Hay all I have been getting a intermiten growl from the center of my truck. So yesterday I got under her and found there to be about 3/8" of up& dopwn and side to side movement at the hanger bearing! Is this a sign that it is bad and that it is the noise that I hear? If so how can I change it? I have had hanger bearings in other cars and such and they had to be pressed on, would this one also need to be pressed?

Thanks for the help,

Sounds like that might be it, I've had trucks and cars with the carrier bearing before and they do get slopp and need replacing after a while, I haven't had any problem with my truck yet, take the whole drive shaft out take it down to a shop, have them replace it and you might as well spring for u-joints while you got it out. just my $.02
