OK. I bought the bug sheild from GM, took it out of the box and held it up to the hood. I really not sure if I like it or not so I didn't put it on. Looked like it was going to rub the paint. The truck has less than 7k and already had to get a new grill and the hood painted from stones falling off a cement truck. Oh and windsheild, I really don't want to do it again.

I've been contemplating this too. I don't want to go the bug shield route and have heard of people using the protective film.

I wonder if there would be problems with waxing with the film (i.e. getting a nice fine white line of wax caught up at the terminating edge of the film). Something like that would stick out like a sore thumb on a black truck like mine.
