Hard Start

I have a 2000 GMC Extended cab with 4.8. At times it has a hard time start. If you give it a little throttle it starts. If you turn the key for an extended time it starts eventually. This doesn't happen all the time. About 50% of the time. It doesn't do it with the first start in the morning, only after it has run a while and then sits. I have changed the in-line fuel filter, cleaned the throttle body and butterfly valve.

I have also changed the sending unit and pump.

Any other ideas to look for?

In my old 99 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L, I had a similar problem. The truck always started...eventually. Seemed the truck had to crank and crank before it would fire. I ended up changing the fuel pressure regulator and that solved my problem. It was about a $65 part from the dealership and took all of 5 minutes to install. Was located on the driver side on the fuel line. If you do this, don't forget to open the gas cap to relieve the pressure in the fuel line. Otherwise, you'll end up wearing gas.
