How we gonna work and have fun with our trucks ?

I have always liked trucks and I won't give up on them ,but what will happen to the GENERAL MOTORS???

Nothing that shouldnt have happened back in the 1990s. Just use the money you saved by buying Chinese made goods and spend it on gas since we are the ones who gave them the ability to afford cars and gas in the first place. Then again you probably used the money you saved and spent it on even more Chinese goods. I saw this coming years ago but everyone thought I was crazy. Many americans deserve what they are now getting. It will hurt but in the long run the planet will benefit greatly from expensive gas. Americans are so wastefull.

Enjoy your truck...you bought a large truck and every one of us was well aware when we bought them that they use more gas than smaller vehicles...deal with it the best you can.

Gas price issues are complex. There is plenty of oil, but as far as which governments, or what environmental regulations, or special interest groups will let us have it is another story.

+1 for moving this to the off-topic area...this has been discussed to death :cold:

Maybe were wasteful, but were not carrying jugs on our heads. The unbridled use of energy allows 5% of the world population to produce 30% of the world's GDP. Otherwise, we'd be banging on our keyboards in dung huts.

Gm will still be around but they will change their production of vehicles. In fact, i heard that Ford is cutting back on suv and truck production. Yes, i know that could mean nobody wants to buy Ford(cause i personally dont like them) but it might be a sign of things to come. Small vehicles are in, we just have to wait til theres a real breakthrough for big vehicles to get good gas mileage. Im just gonna enjoy my truck while i still can cause i know thats nothings gonna change for awhile.

Don't worry...fuel prices are going to come back down, and here's why. Crude oil was under $40 a barrel just over a year ago. Now it's $120/barrel. Something abnormal has happened to raise the price of a commodity over 100% in just over a year...and that something is the media.

My theory is this...the media is largely liberal and is actively trying to get a democrat in the oval office. Look at Obama's campaign slogan...CHANGE! Follow me on this one.

Last October, roughly 13 months before the election, the media started banging on the "economy is suffering" drum. Our economy is largely based on our feelings as people and how much we are willing to spend on things. If we get a little nervous and stop spending or feeling confident, then the economy suffers. We are all just a bunch of lemmings -- just look at what Madison Ave can get us to buy through advertising...

Media bangs on the "economy is suffering" drum, we start spending less, complaining more. Economy suffers = less spending = less corporate profits = less dividends for investors. Investors demand more return on their investment = corp. are forced to raise prices to meet that demand. See the circle of doom that was created?

In steps democratic candidate touting "change" (because the situation in Iraq is getting BETTER, so they can't use the 'we will get us out of Iraq' slogan to win the election...must be something else...let's see, what can we dream up...the ECONOMY!) Obama will probably win the nomination and face off vs. McCain. And Obama will probably win because he's been touting "CHANGE" all along. What needs to change? Certainly we lemmings aren't going to vote based on what is happening over seas. No, we are going to vote with our pocket books and based on the price of fuel.

And banging numbers in excel, I figure for every $0.50 increase per gallon in gas it will cost me roughly $600 more per year in fuel costs. Gas goes up $1.00 per gallon, costs me extra $1,200 that year. That's a lot of money, but not that much money.

I'm no economist, nor am I a political or media expert. I'm just a guy driving a Big Block, crew cab 4x4 truck who understands that there is no way global demand for oil has more than DOUBLED, almost TRIPLED in less than one year! Something smells rotten here folks. Look around and use your nose to find it.

The media is doing what their corporate bosses are telling them to do...Blame everybody (see: "YOU WERE WARNED" or whatever tripe CNN was spamming the news with), blame supply/demand...Make crap up, just like the oil execs have been doing in front of congress this week...But only once in a blue moon will you hear about the commodities traders that are bidding the price up. That coupled with the really weak dollar (OPEC trades oil in US Dollars), is what's causing the high gas prices.

It's really got f***all to do with politics (in my opinion)...And even if it does, let's keep politics out of this discussion.

Oil demand has risen. thank you china.

Not as much as the prices have risen.

Yep, no way that global oil demand has risen 300% in just over a year! Something is fishy...

And remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely

amen!

the more we say to ourselves that gas is so expensive due to global warming, oil shortage, more demand, and Bush the more the oil companies feel justified in raising the oil prices.

thank you CNN and MSNBC for keeping us informed about nonsense and your political agendas!
