2005 2500hd Driveshaft Squeak/grind

She just crossed the 36K mile mark and the drive shaft started squeaking. At first I thought it was the brakes, but after closer inspection it is the driveshaft. Is this common occurence after just 36K miles. There is no grease fitting on the u joint and it sounds more like the rear one by the input shaft of the differential housing. Just want to make sure it is not the input shaft bearing on the differential.

replaced the u joint and she is smoother than silk. Damn things shouldnt go out after 36K

Welcome to the club. I'm getting a squeak I suspect is u-joints as well. My driveshaft was replaced under warranty just three years ago. I drive about 15k a year. So I got about 45k out of those.

05 Sierra 2500HD....37,000 miles....

 

Weird grinding type noise/feeling at slow speeds, notice it when pulling away from a stop at a slow speed (and weirdly enough, seems more noticeable when turing right and pulling away from a stop).

 

u-joint maybe? differential?
