Quarter Window Air Leak

I get wind noise from the right rear window on my 2003 Silverado extended cab when going over 50 mph. It seems as if the window is not pulling tight enough to the body. I've heard that this is a common problem and there are aftermarket solutions. Anybody know of how to fix it? My truck is out of warranty, so I'd like to avoid going to the dealer if possible.

Go to E-bay and do a search on wind noise fix or search item # 260240961355.

 

These are latches that are .050 shorter than stock and pull the window tighter. I have 2 on my 05, no noise.

i might get a pair of those for my truck, to get a little bit better seal..... i went through the car wash one time and there was a drop on the inside of the window.....

 

.050 is how much of an inch?? 1/20" idk if that would really help enough??

That is 50 thousands, or 1/20. people are more familure with 1/16, thats .062 so 1/20 is .012 less than a 16th.

 

It worked for my windows.

Yes you get two. They are kinda tricky to put in. Not too bad once you get the hang of it.

 

If you seach all the truck forms for wind noise you will get a lot of fixes. Some GM shops put a screw in to hold the frame tighter. Havn't figgured out just where the screw goes. Dealers would replace the windows and frames under warranty also.

I had the rear pass windows and frames in my 2000 replaced under warranty when it was about 6 months old. The pass side leaked air and water in high pressure car washes and the driver side only leaked air. The new ones worked for a little while, but the pass side got wind noise back in about a year. I never bothered fixing it.

 

.050" is ALOT!!! If you push on your window, or pull on the latch, you can get it to seal and you can't move it more than .050". Remember, this .050" is on the link arm than pulls your window shut.

 

I have heard they work great!!!
