Grabby Brakes

Hi GM TECH, I have a 1997 suburban 2500 with 120,000k. I just had the front brakes done over at a ind shop (rotors, pads - not calipers) which was a pretty big job ($600) and now I'm having a problem with the brakes grabbing badly, especially when first starting out (goes away after a short drive). They actually lock up violently when lightly touched when leaving the driveway in the morning.

Also, even though the problem mostly goes away after driving, I notice that if I am turning (right or left) while lightly touching the brake pedal, the ABS starts pulsating, then the pedal goes to the floor, then the brakes start working again.

The brake light comes on and off intermittantly when this happens, but does not usually stay on.

Thanks,

The grabbing sounds like front brake hose maybe collasped but hard to say without actually driving it. If you didn't have these problems before you had your truck serviced it's possible they screwed something up during the brake job or you may have a sticking new calipber. Bring it back and talk to a manager about it. As far as the abs light you will need to see what codes are stored in the ebcm then we can help u.

Thanks for the advice. New brake lines did the trick. I didn't see anything crimped, but they were pretty beat up. It has been 1 week so far and brakes are perfect.
