My 99 Sierra with a 5.3l has a long engine crank on some starts but not others. I have had no no engine lights come on and everything looks normal. Could it be the fuel pressure regulator going bad? I was under the impression that they go bad all at once. What might it be? Thanks!

My 99 silverado has the same problem. I just turn the ignition to "on", wait 3-5 seconds, and then start it. The fuel pump/ fuel sender had been replaced under warrentee, a few years back, and I suspect it is going out again. The pump/ sender was replaced because the fuel gauge was flickin to empty, when I would fill the gas tank. Try some chevron techron in the fuel tank. I read on the forum, that sulfer collects on the pump/ sender and don't fill up again, till it's empty. One bottle will treat 12 gallons. A short bed tank is 26 gals., long bed is 34 gals. Truck will register empty with 4 gallons left.
