Question: What gives?

Answer: You just added 22's this week on your 01 Sierra with 4.8L

Those wheels are much heavier and require much more power to get moving, keep moving, and stop than did your stock wheels and tires, a lot more. The 4.8 is nice but it is a 4.8.

Question: how off is my speedo with the 22's

Answer: Can't tell you yet. What size tires are you running and what size were on your truck stock?

When you ask questions like this, you need to supply enough information for people to work with. Give us the tire size and we'll try to help you out. Alternatively, you can use the tool found here.

Post the tire size and maybe we can help you. Wheel size is meaningless, overall diameter is very meaningful.

Also would be helpful if you post the stock size of the OE tires (since your speedo is calibrated to that size) and these trucks came with a few different tires sizes depending on options.

Yep, you likely added 40 pounds to each corner, depending on which wheel you previously had.

Rotating mass is a fickle bitch...

I really hope you don't mind the new addition to my sig, because that's just...beautiful

Since you didn't mention the stock tire size, I'll assume it had the 235/75/16 (the normal 2wd OE size). These are 29.9" OD, your new tires are 32.1" OD. You would be better off with a 285/35/22 then a 285/45/22 since the 35 is also 29.9" OD (no speedo adjustment necessary and no change in effective gear ratio). What you are feeling is the extra weight along with a fairly significant gearing change due to the increased OD (for the worse when it comes to power). You speedo is now off by about 8%.

I am lost when it comes to gearing issues... so I assume you mean that as it is now it seems like I have a 2.73 rather than 3.45 gear ratio????

if so that explains why it feels like a dog going up a hill.... Im wondering if this will kill me when towing my boat.....

yup. Not to mention you lost power because of the weight of wheels themselves being heavier.

It definitely isn't going to help.

If you have a 4.8 w/ 3.42s it should have already felt like a dog going up a hill  I can't imagine how bad it must feel now.

OK so i will look into some 35 series tires tomorrow... If I understand that will put me back to normal for my gearing?

as for pics... I will take soe tomorrow and post em up.

Thanks for the help
