Hey all, new to the boards and wanted to pry some minds...just got a 00' Tahoe which has the front end off a 06' Denali with an LS1 plant. Some how the lights come on with the ignition any thing in particular I could look for to get them back on their actuall switch?

Thanks and sorry if this is too vague, specific or moronic...

Not sure if the DRL work at all because everytime the ignition is turned on all of the lights come on with it, and I know DRL don't come on when your lights are on...I don't want to take it to a shop to have them try and "trace" the problem. I am (much like everyone) hoping for an easier solution, just have'nt taken the switch out yet to try and trace wires.

BTW I'll get some pics of her up soon...

I have seen cases where the sensor mounted at the bottom of the windshield has fallen into the dash (and therefore gets no light) making the lights always on. It's at least a possibility. I have also seen people who added a "dash mat" covering device and then brought their vehicle in for repairs because the lights were "malfunctioning".

Certainly makes sense to make sure there isn't anything obstructing light to the sensor.

I pulled that sensor and found both leads were cut for some reason, I soldered them back together and the lights turned off!!! Now I need to figure out why the DRL are'nt working...thanks for the advice.

Now I need to figure out why the DRL are'nt working...thanks for the advice.

Check your fuse box, out under the hood. See if you have one or more fuses labeled DRL. If so, make sure the fuses are actually in those slots. Some people (like myself) don't like having the lights on all the time (especially HID's). So, they remove the fuse. That's probably not it. But, it'd be worth checking, "just in case."

Thanks I'll check that out, problem is the truck has the front end of a Denali on it so it has seperate DRL's from the mains...but I'm working on it slowly with help from you all and my chilton!

This is probably the source of your problem. It's very possible the person who converted it didn't wire things properly (like the cut wires on the sensor).

Turns out thr DRL's don't turn on until the truck is out of Park...wierd but they do in fact work, guess the truck isn't as bad off as I was beginning to think!

Thanks again to all for the input.
