"b" Or "t" For Engine Code, What Is The Difference

I own a 2005 Silverado 5.3L 4x4 Crew and have noticed there are 2 different engine codes for the 5.3L engine. One being a B and one being a T. What is the difference between these 2 engines? Mine is a T for the 8th digit in the VIN.

The "T" (RPO "LM7") is the iron block 5.3 with 295 hp

The "B" (RPO "L33") is the aluminum block 5.3 with 310 hp

The aluminum block 5.3 was only available in the extended-cab short-bed trucks, starting in the '05 model-year,They were not available in the crew-cabs.

Thanks for the info, I have heard that the piston noise is in the aluminum block engines.
