Supercharged Yukon Exhaust Noise

Recommended Posts

I have GMC yukon 2005 supercharged,

Magnuson supercharger

Com cam cam

pacesitter long tube headers

440 whp

the muffler is a custom built 3" side exhaust.

i have changed till now 3 mufflers to reduce the noise in side the cabin, but no luck the last muffler did reduce the but when the engine is lauded the deep tone gets really high that every body gets a head ache ( my kids and wife)

i am thinking of installing dynatech system as it has two cats on them or install short headers and the OEM cats.

what ever solution comes to your minds will be appreciated.

i will so anything to reduce the exhaust noise in the cabin and i don't mind losing some of the power.

thanks

The first easiest thing to do is simply add a resonator. There isn't a lot of room, but you can normally squeeze another resonator behind the axle and next to your spare. Maybe even get one behind or in front of the muffler - depending on how big your muffler is. Also, which Magnaflow muffler do you have? Going for the longest Magnaflow you can find will definately help since. Bigger the muffler, the more sound it can capture.

But honestly, even that isn't going to get rid of all the drone. It's just going to "turn down the volume." The exhaust naturally wants to give you a nice loud deep tone, which can easily translate into drone. But hey, there is always good 'ol Corsa. No restriction and no drone (with the touring). It's pricey, but well worth it.
