2000 Ecsb 4x4 Fuel Pump Chatter @ Start/whine

Hey Guys,

My 2000 Silverado 4x4 ECSB w/ 110k miles has an issue (new body style vs the old style 99 00). When I start it with my remote start, I can hear a new clicking noise like a relay chattereing or 3-5 seconds, then the truck starts. The fuel pump is making a louder than usual whining noise while the truck is running too. It runs fine. I figure my fuel pump is going bad. I have a 26 gallon tank. Unlike the 34 gal tank in my 1988 K1500 I used to have, where I dropped the tank and changed the pump (re: pain in the a@@). I gather the consensus is to remove the bed (and either slide it back, or jack up the left side and with the left rear tire removed, pull the pump).

My truck has to be extremely reliable, so am wondering where to get the pump? I think the pump/sending unit are one peice, and have heard to replace the pump/sender/wiring harness at the same time. Should I go with a dealer part or rock auto or a reliable dealer on Ebay?

Any other advice?

Should I replace the pump, or pump and sender? and what about "always replace the wiriring harness" crap I read about?

pump and sender is all one unit in gmt 800+ trucks.
