Integrated Brake Controller

I remember reading somewhere that my 2005 Sierra has an integrated brake controller. How do I verify this? Im getting ready to buy a trailer and brake controller but if the truck already has one built in I dont want to waste my money. Thanks in advance.

No,Your '05 does not have an integrated brake controller.

GM didn't start offering that until the GMT900 trucks in '07 for the HD's,And '08 for the 1/2-tons.

You should have a "jumper harness" though to hook-up a controller,that way you don't have to do any splicing of wires.

Thank you. I have the harness. had to persuade the dealer to give me one. But they wouldnt give me the addapter that goes from the 7 pin to the flat 4.

Well...If you bought it used I can see where the truck might not have the harness or adapter in it,But the dealer should give you one for "customer satisfaction" and to make you happy.

I know when I traded in my '99 and '04 I made sure both the harness and adapter were in the center console so if the new owner needed them they had them.

If you are looking to buy a brake controller, I would like to recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy. It is one of the best controllers on the market. I have used one for years now and never had a problem.
