Slip On Rocker Panels

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2001 Silverado with rocker panel rot. I purchased som Slip on rocker panels from Raybuck with the intent of cutting out the rot, treating the remaining metal and welding the new panels on mudding a quick sand and coating with undercoating.

The panels showed up and they are pretty beefy. Would anyone have any tips before I dive in besides take it to a body shop. I'm not overly concerned with the appearance as you don't see much of it anyway.

Thankd in Advance

Is yours a extended cab or a reg cab. I have some minor rot on the bottom of my third door. I was looking at getting one of their panels but I didnt know how well they held up.

I spoke to someone at raybuck and told them I just wanted to grind out the rot and weld on the new one and they said it would work just fine. Now looking at it I'm a little skeptical.

I would never leave the rust there, if theres any unpainted surfaces or missed its goign to speed up rusting of the new piece. The easiest way is to touch it up and trade it in which is what i think im giong to do. I have 2 small bubbles and one thats through the paint but under the clear coat so its still got a long way to go before its bad.
