In Houston, Katzkin's will run $1000-$1200 installed with a three year warranty. You could save about $400 if you install them yourself.

Here in eastern Iowa/western Illinois, dealers want around $1500. I put Katzkins in myself, and paid $570 shipped to my door from a dealer in Texas. Install was not difficult, just took time.

It is my understanding that there is some vinyl on the sides were the wear is the heaviest. I believe this is what all manufactures do because leather will break down on the sides of the seat much faster.

The standard bottom on the crew cab is cloth, so I had Katzkin's install vinyl on the bottom of the rear seat. This way when my dog rides in the back with the seat up it's easy to clean up.

Im very tempted to do a katzkin conversion in mine. That lint is on my last nerve. What is the most difficult part of the install?

If you have the center jump seat with the storage, that is a real bear. Also the driver side seat with power and if the passenger side has power, getting the bottom cover hooked underneath is tough on the fingers and hands. Also the head rests are almost impossible until you suck them down with a vacuum cleaner. Then the covers go onto the foam real easy. You also have to take care in removing the old covers, since there are plastic connectors that hold the covers to the foam backs. A bit careless and you'll tear things up.

Forgot to mention that they are offering Heated Seats for the front row at 300 bucks more.I live in North Carolina. The weather is mostly 65-90 9 months out of the year.So its really a warm weather state overall.Waste of good money?I mean it seems nice to have warmed seats at the touch of a button during the cold periods of the year but is it really worth the extra $$??

Your thoughts? Thanks either way.Luxury waste or got it when you want it type thing??

Also my big thing about these seats is that im thinking about getting GMC in red in both front headrest.Salesman said he would not get that logo in leather in the seats because of the resale later on down the road. The headrest would be easier to replace than both front seats. In other words some people might not like GMC in the seats. Not sure on this one.

Ive seen pics on the headrest and they look nice and not over guady.

Any thoughts ??

I was going to add heated seates when I installed mine. However, my friend who is a service manager at the dealership where I bought my truck, indicated that the air bag sensors don't function properly with some aftermarket heated seat kits. Don't quite know why, nor does it make sense to me, but I decided not to deal with them.

On the logo, it's your truck, if you want the logo go with it. The leather alone will increase the resale. But then the cost of fuel pretty much shoved any resale down the drain anyway.

Thannks Mazz, any pics of yours? how long did it take?

It took me two days. I took my time and inspected everything before putting the seats back into the truck. Here's some pics.

Hey Mazz i think you and I think alike, your seats look exactly like the ones I want and you and I have pretty much the same truck lol. Anyways did you get red contrasting stitching? Also does your leather have the "gathered" look? One more, what color is the seats?

Thanks

The dark color is Katzkins' Dark Graphite. The inserts are Katzkins' Red. All stitching is in red. They don't, or at least didn't, have the "gathered look" available for the NNBS.

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
