Jet Progammers

I caught "HotRod TV" this afternoon and was aboout to pass it by, but Jet Systems was demonstrating a progammer mod on a 2001 5.3 Xcab.

They put the truck on the chassis dyno and measured 218 hp at the rear wheel @ 5500 rpm. Then they put the programmer in and measured 245 hp @ the rear wheel @5500 rpm. They were so happy that they got these numbers! All I could think about was the fact that my truck seldom, if ever, reaches 4000 rpm. If the power gain isn't in a powerband that I use, why buy it? I guess the weekend draggers will like this, but it really is of no use to me. Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

That's the thing with the new GM engines. They are made to make most of their power in the higher RPM ranges.

If you used a reprogrammer,a cooler thermostat and a less restrictive air intake on your truck maybe along with an exhaust, you would see performance gains as well as increased mileage as long as you keep your foot out of it.

I really think that any combination of the above mentioned would make a noticeable difference.

Jet is not a programmer like Hypertech. Jet's products trick the computer, Hypertech actually reprograms it. The hypertech tuning is a noticeable difference, not only at WOT either.
