2007 Sierra Dead

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra. Today I went out to get something in the truck and it is completely dead. No lights, no power of any kind. I checked the battery with a meter it reads -4 volts !!?? Any ideas. Just used it yesterday and parked in front of the house. This truck has been rock solid since I bought it in Dec 2006.

 

 

Update: I just disconnected the battery cables and tried to charge the battery. It was indeed dead, a 15 minute charge was ALMOST enough to turn the engine over. Gonna let it charge a while. The dealer is getting a call tomorrow. I've had GMC's for years and never had one do this. I drive mine to work every day, should hold a charge.

There is a TSB regarding battery drain for some '07's. You might ask the dealership about it.

You got a link to that TSB? I have to drive mine at least once a week or the battery dies! I just figured it was because it was the SLT with all the electronic goodies and it just drains the battery, but you would think it would hold a charge better than that! I might need to have it checked out!

I don't remember the precise TSB but the dealer should be able to run your VIN and see if there are any available regarding the battery drain issue. It's hard to say what's causing the drain though.
