Larger Tires On A 2003 Sierra 1500 4x4 Crew Cab

Hey All,

New to forums and need some experienced folks to tell me how large a tire I can stick on the truck without rubbing. I have the 245/75/16's on the 8 lug rims. I'd like to add some height and filling the fender well a bit. The stock size is small compared to the opening as many of you'll know. I have not lifted the truck and don't really plan to. I'd like to have it leveled in the front though so any suggestions on that and which manufacturers parts to use would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance....

Welcome to the site!.

265-75-16s without battin' a lip. Many use 285s... especially if you level the truck.

^ What he said. As far as leveling, do a search on here for cranking the torsion bars, you'll find a lot of good reading. :uhoh:

Welcome to the site, too.

doompeak, here is my 02' Sierra. i needed to switch out tires last week and asked the same question your asking. they tried on the 285/75/16 and they fit. give me a nice lift (if you can call it that  ). no rubbing at all...they did have to crank on my torsion bar, just a little to level the truck back out. when the bigger tires went on they caused the truck to tilt forward a little. i didn't like it that way, preference i guess...

thanks! they are an Akuza wheel. they only make it up to 17" which i am thinking about getting. i have the 16" wheel now, but stuck on how much of a difference in apearrance it would be when i get my 6" BDS lift and 35" tires you know? i seen the Ultra brand, but don't know to much about them. i heard they just copy other wheels and sell them for cheap. but they make it from 18" -20".

I've had 285's for about 60k miles now with no clearance problems

It seems turning radius is worse

and

Lost 0.8 mpg going from 265 Michelin street tire to 285 BFG A/t's
